CSU East Bay Classroom and Lab Support

Classroom and Lab Support (CLS) is the part of the User Support Services department of ITS that supports the technology in the learning environments on campus.  This support includes technology used in the University's classrooms and computer labs. Services include maintaining smart classrooms and computer labs, ensuring the optimal operation of presentation and computer equipment in these rooms, as well as providing technology delivery services such as the delivery of computer carts to non-technology equipped classrooms.

Technologies: CSU Eastbay Computer Facilities support multiple Learning Styles through a Hybrid Multi-Modal approach
For Faculty and Student use, there are:

  1. Physical Labs and Classrooms with desktops for general in-person instruction. Many of these can also be accessed remotely using the remote-access Labs page (LabStats)
  2. Specialized purpose-built physical Labs with various types of computers e.g.
    • Macs for Creative Arts
    • Smart Classrooms with various special Audio-Visual access facilities
    • Accessible Technology Labs
    • Virtual Reality computer equipment, and
    • Departmental Research Labs
  3. Virtual or Cloud-hosted Lab Environments

    • AWS AppStream - A commercial Cloud environment of Virtual Desktop images hosted (currently Amazon, through the Chancellors Office)
Multiple applications are maintained within two different environments: Standard and Graphics-Intensive. Here is a list of the hosted applications. Additional applications may be requested by submitting a Service Desk Ticket.

There are additional computing resources available including physical computers in the Library Core building, as well as:

  1. Individual Laptops which can be checked out from the Library for a semester
  2. Assistive Technology-equipped Laptops which can be checked out by the semester
  3. A variety of videos and hypertext links to helpful resources that explain how to use each.

All of these systems are administered and managed by Campus IT and help for them is provided by the Campus Help-Desk
