Minor in Hospitality

The hospitality and tourism minor, given the multi-disciplinary nature of the field, presents students from various fields with additional career choices and opportunities during their studies and/or after graduation.

Minor in Event Planning and Management

The minor in event planning and management prepares students for a career in an industry that is growing at a rapid pace. The curriculum focuses on the development of a meeting and event professional through experiential learning opportunities that complement the coursework. Students complete the minor with knowledge, skills, and abilities to assist them in a variety of roles in the meetings and events industry. All courses are completed online asynchronously; there are no meeting days or times, with the exception of group meetings in HOS 310. This minor is ideal for Business Administration, Communications, and related majors. **This is not available for HRT majors.


Minor in Recreation

The recreation minor provides students from various fields with additional career choices and opportunities during their studies and/or after graduation.

Minor in Youth Development Leadership

The minor in youth development prepares students for a career in youth-based recreation, with a specific focus on using a strengths-based approach to development for youth and adolescents. The curriculum focuses on the positive growth and well-being of young people, spotlighting the importance of building skills, knowledge, and positive relationships to help them become healthy, productive adults. All courses are completed online asynchronously, with instructors available by appointment as needed. This minor is ideal for students who may be working in any type of youth programs, including those within the school systems (after school) or through recreation programming.
