Faculty Details

Dr. Erick Kong, CTRS, RTC
Dr. Kong joined the Department of Hospitality, Recreation and Tourism faculty in 2007 and is an Associate Professor. He grew up in the Bay Area and he is a nationally certified by the NCTRC as a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) as well as state certified as a Recreation Therapist Certified (RTC) by CBRPC. Erick’s work experience includes working for the Institute on Aging, TODCO services, Kaiser Permanente, and the Center of Adventure Recreation.
Besides teaching and working with clients, Erick is avid for adventure. He enjoys many outdoor activities such as rock climbing, hiking, sailing, rafting, biking, skydiving, orienteering, geocaching, sea & whitewater kayaking, surfing, spelunking, windsurfing, rowing, slacklining, sculling, and many more.
Ed.D. in Educational Leadership and Management from Alliant International University
M.S. in Education with an emphasis in Online Teaching and Learning from California State University, East Bay
B.S. in Recreation with option in Recreation Therapy from California State University, East Bay (Formerly California State University, Hayward)
A.S. in Physical Therapist Assistant from Ohlone College
