Effort Certification
Thank you to everyone who has reached out to us with questions about Effort Certification. Under federal regulations, CSU East Bay is required to confirm that salary charged to sponsored projects reasonably reflects the work performed on those activities. At East Bay, effort is certified twice each year.
We thought it would be helpful to provide additional background on the purpose and importance of Effort Certification. You can now review our new Effort Certification webpage for additional guidance and context.

Student Summer Employment (Non-Financial Aid)
- Submit requests early for student summer employment.
- Students may not begin work until all hiring paperwork is complete and they have signed in with Payroll using the SA 2600.

CSUBuy Updates
We have processed all requests to add PIs to CSUBuy. If you still do not have access, please contact ✉️ Mike Kusiak, who will submit a ticket on your behalf.
We are continuing to build out guidance to help explain how CSUBuy is used for Sponsored Programs. We now have specific guidance on how to add individuals who need to be reimbursed on a grant.
