Current Students with Accessibility Services
Now that you have had your Welcome Meeting, it is important to maintain contact with your accessibility counselor should you have any questions or concerns about your accommodations. Please do not hesitate to do so by contacting your counselor or us at either 510-885-3868 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you have a temporary disability (i.e., broken extremity, other injury, illness, or medical complications resulting from pregnancy), that may last from a few weeks to a semester, you may be eligible for other academic accommodations.
Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 ("Title IX"), 20 U.S.C. § 1681 et seq., is a Federal civil rights law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex - including pregnancy and parental status - in educational programs and activities. Read more about Cal State East Bay's pregnancy policies here.
The AS Portal
Accessibility Services (AS) has transitioned from Accommodate to the AS Portal. Students can use the AS Portal to notify faculty and the AS Accommodation Coordinators when they plan to use an accommodation in a particular course, track the status of their accommodations, and schedule appointments with the Accessibility Counselor. The AS Portal will continue to be refined and developed, and students will be updated as new features become available.
How-to videos and guides can be found on our AS Portal page.
Scheduling an Appointment
- Schedule an appointment through the AS Portal.
- Visit us in person in LI 2400 (located across from the Library).
- Call us at 510-885-3868.
- Email us at email@example.com
You can also see your Accessibility Counselor by attending their weekly Drop-in Hours.
Submitting Accommodation Notifications
You will notify your faculty and our Accommodation Coordinators each semester that you plan to use your accommodations. Notifications are submitted through the AS Portal using the "Accommodation Notification Form." Once submitted, your faculty will receive an email letting them know which of your accommodations you need in their course. Additionally, if your accommodation is implemented by an Accommodation Coordinator (Course Notes, Accessible Furniture, Accessible Testing, Interpreting, Real-Time Captioning), a notification will be sent to the appropriate coordinator, and you will receive information regarding next steps, if any, within three (3) business days.
If you need help exploring or utilizing your accommodations, please visit our Instructions, Forms & Policies page.
If you would like to explore or utilize various resources on campus, please visit our Helpful Tips and Resources page.
Last but not least, we encourage you to visit the Pioneer Scholarships page to review and apply for any applicable scholarships offered by Cal State East Bay.
