Informal Complaint Resolution

Accessibility Services strives to resolve issues of access within our department in a prompt and equitable manner. If at any time you should have any questions or concerns regarding accessibility on campus, you are welcome to make an appointment to speak with the Director of Accessibility Services by calling 510-885-3868 or emailing as@csueastbay.edu. The Director, or designee, will reply to your complaint within three (3) business days.

If you should come across a barrier on campus that impedes access for people with disabilities, please submit aReport of On-Campus Inaccessibility Form in ServiceNow or email a Word | PDF version of the form to our office (as@csueastbay.edu).

Examples of On-Campus Inaccessibility include, but are not limited to:

  • Elevator outages
  • Door openers not working
  • Obstructions on ramps or curb cuts
  • Lack of curb cut
  • Inaccessible websites or online course materials
  • Non-captioned videos
  • Faculty/staff not providing accommodations approved by Accessibility Services
  • Adverse attitudes regarding disability or people with disabilities

Appealing an Accommodation Decision

During your meeting with your accessibility counselor, you and your counselor will discuss the need for academic accommodations (based on your functional limitations) and create a list of approved accommodations. If you disagree with the accommodations approved in this meeting, submit an Accommodation Appeal Form (Word | PDF). The Accessibility Services Director, or designee, will reach out to you in order to address your grievance. If you are not satisfied with the Director's (or designee's) decision, you have the option to pursue a more formal complaint.
