I got in! Now What?

Congratulations, and welcome to the Department of Music. Here is what happens between your admission and your first week of classes, and what we need from you along the way.

First, accept your admission offer

Log in to MyCSUEB, choose the "Admissions" tile, select "Accept Admission," and pay the $110 non-refundable pre-enrollment fee, which is applied toward orientation. The Office of Admissions covers the rest of the university side, from housing to student life, on its after you're admitted page.

Get your music schedule

How your first semester comes together depends on how you enter. Most of this happens between late May and early July.

First-year students. Your first-semester schedule is built for you by the CLASS Student Success Center, in coordination with the department's music advisors, Inés Thiebaut (ines.thiebaut@csueastbay.edu) and Buddy James (buddy.james@csueastbay.edu). You do not register yourself for the first year at CSUEB.

Transfer and second-bachelor's students. We schedule an advising session with you to go over your options and plan your courses. Watch for our email(s) and pick a time. Once your courses are settled, you register yourself, and the Registrar explains how to register.

Music education students. If you plan to start the Single Subject Matter Preparation Certificate in Music, also get in touch with John Eros (john.eros@csueastbay.edu), who coordinates music education.

Complete your applied area placement

To begin lessons in your principal area, you need a successful applied area placement. If you completed a scholarship audition, that already counts and you are set. If you did not, sign up on the scholarship auditions and applied area placements page. Placements run up until the end of the first week of the fall or spring semester.

Come to music orientation

The Department holds its orientation on the Thursday before the first week of classes. You will walk our facilities, rent a locker, and meet your cohort and your advisors. We send the date and details by email over the summer.
