Forms and Foundations in the Fitness Center with Trainer Jaylen

Interested in learning the fundamentals of working out with topics ranging from warming up, gym etiquette, and safety and spotting protocols, to weight progression, proper technique, and how to target muscle groups. This workshop series is for you!

Join Personal Trainer and Group Fitness Instructor Jaylen for 1, or all 3, of his Forms and Foundations in the Fitness Center small group workshops and build confidence in your ability to apply these principles to your own fitness journey!

All sessions start at 6p and take place in the Fitness Center here at the RAW. Classes are sized up to 6 members so act soon to reserve a space via your RAW Portal or RAW Member App. 

Day #1 (Tuesday, 10/6) - Bench Press/Push Day Goals:
  • Basic understanding of safety/spotting practices, gym etiquette, weight progression, and warming up
  • Introduce proper techniques + methods with approaching the Bench Press and understand what muscle groups the bench press is targeting 
  • Run through a sample "push day" workout incorporating the bench press techniques learned
    • Participants should subsequently feel comfortable to replicate this workout on their own
Day # 2 (Tuesday, 10/13) - Squats/Leg Day Goals: 
  • Reinforce concepts covered in Day #1 (gym etiquette, safety protocols etc.) 
  • Introduce proper techniques + methods for approaching the barbell back squat, and understand what muscle groups that are being targeting
  • Provide a sample "leg day" workout incorporating the squat techniques learned
    • Participant should subsequently feel comfortable to replicate this workout on their own 
Day # 3 (Tuesday, 10/20) - Accessory Based Movements/Full Body Goals:  
  • Reinforce the concepts covered in Day #1 and Day #2 
  • Introduce various accessories that can be used in conjunction with dumbbells, benches, and other areas of the fitness center that can seem intimidating at times
  • Provide a sample "full body day", separate from the bench press and squat days already introduced, that is less focused on barbell lifting, and more focused on the utilization of accessories and related movement/exercise
