Summer Student Assistant Selection Process

The Summer Student Assistants (SSA) will be helping out with the day to day operations with CSUEB Housing Office/Mailroom and Summer Conferencing. UHRL hosts a wide range of groups that are using our facilities and campus to enhance the experiences of summer residents and summer conferences. Summer Student Assistants are the welcoming face of University Housing and CSU East Bay in ensuring that their needs are being met and running operations for conferencing.

Summer Student Assistants serve in an after hours response rotation. As an after hours responder Summer Student Assistants will respond to lock outs, address emergencies, enforce policy, and provide other support to students, faculty, staff, and guests.

Minimum Requirements:

Candidates Must have completed 2 semesters of enrollment at CSU East Bay

Candidates who are not enrolled in summer courses must provide availability to work a minimum of 30 hours per week during business hours (Monday - Friday from  9 AM - 6 PM)

Candidates who are enrolled in summer courses must provide availability to work a minimum of 20 hours per week during business hours (Monday - Friday from  9 AM - 6 PM)

Candidates must be in good judicial and financial standing with University Housing & Residence Life and California State University East Bay

Candidates must be eligible to work with in the US and have the ability to provide required documentation for an I-9 employment confirmation

Selection Process:

To receive full consideration for the Summer Student Assistant position a candidate must complete the following:

  • Complete an application
  • Meet all minimum requirements
  • Attend a 30-45 minutes interview (scheduled after application review)

It is recommended that you gather all documents needed for the completion of this paperwork in advance so it does not delay your onboarding process. Online Training Modules: You will receive more information on required onboarding training once your hiring paperwork is processed and your staff email is set up. Please note it can take a few weeks (and sometimes longer) for all paperwork to process.

If you are currently a CSU East Bay or a UHRL Student Leader, understand you may need to do complete refresher training.
