Gender Affirming Care

Gender Affirming Care

We believe in and use an informed consent model of care, as recognized by  World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH). Although letters of support are appreciated, they are not necessary to receive an appointment for gender-affirming care at CSU East Bay Student Health and Counseling Services. Our goal is to reduce barriers to care.

We follow evidence-based practice and national guidelines, including WPATH’s Standards of Care and UC San Francisco’s Guidelines for the Primary and Gender-Affirming Care of Transgender and Gender Nonbinary People.

The following gender affirming care services are provided at Student Health & Counseling Services:

  • Mental health support
  • Hormone therapy (masculinizing and feminizing)
  • Injection education
  • Assessments and letters of support as needed

We can also guide you to additional services, such as:

  • Gender-affirming (confirming) surgeries, including:
    • Top surgery
    • Bottom surgery
  • Tracheal shave
  • Fertility preservation
