Announcing Our New Mascot

Dear Cal State East Bay Community,

I trust this message finds you well as we gear up for commencement this week, marking the culmination of another successful semester.

I'm thrilled to share some exciting news aimed at enhancing our university pride and spirit.

First, I am delighted to announce the result of our recent student voting. After much anticipation and participation, we proudly present the official mascot of Cal State East Bay: the Peregrine Falcon! This majestic bird embodies power, courage, adaptability, and the soaring spirit of our incredible students.

As Diego, one of our student workers in University Communications aptly puts it: "Peregrine Falcons are constantly fighting against the odds but continue to persevere and remain a dominant predator in the sky."

It's important to note that our new mascot is not intended to replace our longstanding nickname, the Pioneers. We remain steadfast in honoring the rich history and tradition of our students, who are modern-day pioneers, constantly aiming high and achieving new heights. The introduction of the Peregrine Falcon serves to complement and enrich our identity, symbolizing our commitment to progress and excellence.

Be sure to keep an eye out for the grand unveiling of the Peregrine Falcon mascotlogo when we reconvene in the fall. It will be a momentous occasion you won't want to miss!

A special shoutout to the ASI Board of Directors for their invaluable assistance in facilitating the mascot voting process. Your continued support and enthusiasm are greatly appreciated.

Go Pioneers!
